Bainbridges of Ruislip

Bainbridge’s of Ruislip will be closing at the end of June and being local to us we have known each other’s auction rooms for many years. I remember visiting The Barn in Ruislip with my mother where Peter Bainbridge had his first auction rooms. The auction room was close to us as we lived in Pinner at the time.  I loved visiting auction rooms with the large variety of items that were awaiting to be discovered.

I was often left at the auction rooms while my parents did the weekly shop at Sainsburys on Ruislip High Street and visiting Eastcote. They would come back at the end of the day to collect me and the inevitable purchases I had made. When I later worked at an auction rooms in Amersham in my late teems I would nip out in my lunch hour. I would have just enough time to be able to get to Bainbridges and be able to view the auction.  Since working at Bourne End Auction Rooms, I have not had the time to visit Bainbrides but all of us at Bourne End Auction Rooms wish Peter Bainbridge a wonderful retirement and we are sure he will enjoy the next chapter of his life.
