Approximately four hundred letters, diaries, headed paper, telegrams and other correspondence relating to George and Daphne Charlton and their circle from the 1930s to 1980s, to include a letter from The Art Council of Great Britain relating to the lending of a Sir Stanley Spencer drawing in 1956. Daphne Charlton and Stanley Spencer began an affair which lasted from 1939 to 1941, although they remained in touch for the rest of his life
