A Harwood automatic, 9ct gold wristwatch, import marks for Glasgow 1928, the silvered dial with Arabic numeral hour markers, outer minute track and blued hands, signed Harwood, in a cushion-shaped case, on a later black leather strap, accompanied by three autograph letters from John Harwood relating to the servicing of the watch, dated 1957 and 1958. John Harwood is credited for inventing the first automatically wound watch mechanism which was patented in 1924. The watch has no crown, instead the time is adjusted by rotating the bezel forwards, 27.5mm
